WebCity is a Flash mini-site that employs a illustrative interface approach, while retaining a relatively small footprint at 300 Kb. The mini-site uses a city metaphor to deliver multi-layered content detailing the services that WebCity has to offer. The interface performs random events when not engaged in navigation. The initial screen incorporates the monochromatic interface, at rest, with random events taking place such as chasing balls rolling on the streets and satellites orbiting the globe… As the user interacts with the WebCity interface, the buildings representing content sections animate to color. When a building is selected the satellite beams and initial content reveals itself. When the “Learn More” option is selected, the content “paper” expands to deliver all content. The modern interface follows the illustrative stylization, contrasting the color of the current interaction against the monochromatic cityscape.
